NGBBS lesson 1:
Man mods are fucking dumb
to be honest i had it coming, just not a fucking month
did you see yojimbo yet
this month is stritcly horror but in november i will i swear
I heard you like Talking Heads. I would make a bunch of references and try to appear cool, but really that's dumb.
i feel like there's a reference there i'm missing
brb, arranging a flight to portugal next month so i can be there to tape your reaction that masterpiece
sweet then we can watch other horror movies so i can show you there are quite a handful of good uns
I just made a Devo reference there without knowing it. Anyway thoughts on Talking Heads.
ARE WE NOT MEN
this is how i put it: Remain in Light > Fear of Music > More Songs About Buildings And Food > Speaking in Tongues > Talking Heads: 77 > Little Creatures
hbu
I love Jocko Homo.
Anyway, I never met a Talking Heads fan who didn't think Remain In Light was their best work, it's honestly one of the best. And the Joy Division try-out at the end is still one of my favourite tunes. I don't really like Fear of Music that much, the songs aren't as memorable as the ones in MSABAF or Speaking in Tongues.
I got that feeling about FOM as well the first couple of times but then errything changed. I recommend listening to heaven again, it's brilliant, and so are the lyrics!
Devo's debut is also flawless...!
Heaven is pretty amazing, I have to give it that. I'll take a few more listens. Oh, and Devo's first album is basically the most out of control album I have. Everything feels like it's going to fall apart and you just love it.
well then other than Heaven, Drugs is most likely the song that clicked with me at the beggining.
agreed on Devo. also i loved their live performances
Who, Devo or Talking Heads? Because I have good examples of both.
both, really. devo had that whole hazmat suit shtick along with the robotic dance and all and byrne was just insane.
both fantastic
I have Stop Making Sense on my computer right now, it's literally one of my favourite films ever. And Devo with that robotic dance, sweet jesus can they move a crowd. I like Talking Heads a bit more than Devo in the live factor, considering Bryne can really do anything and make it cool.
you should listen to byrne and eno's collab album, My Life in the Bush of Ghosts, if you haven't already
i have byrne's book too, How Music Works, but i haven't started it yet
I might as well, considering I need to listen to Bryne sing more. and that book I have, haven't read yet either.
bad news broski, they're all pretty much instrumentals apart from a few voice samples
you should totally listen to eno by the way, he's brilliant
i wish i could be a smooth alley cat, wear a suit 3 times my size and still look a third as good as bryne did
